On November 6, 2025, Vice President Liu Weidong of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) met with Heri Hermansyah, President of Universitas Indonesia (UI), and his delegation at the Minhang Campus. During the meeting, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen future cooperation.
Liu Weidong extended a warm welcome to President Heri Hermansyah and his delegation. He reviewed the achievements of collaboration between SJTU and UI across multiple fields, noting that the partnership has gone beyond the inter-university level to encompass industry synergy and livelihood-oriented cooperation. Liu expressed hope that the two universities would build on their existing foundation to further deepen collaboration and jointly cultivate more interdisciplinary talents with cross-cultural perspectives.
President Heri Hermansyah highly commended SJTU’s accomplishments in interdisciplinary research, innovation and entrepreneurship, and international education. He stated that Universitas Indonesia looks forward to promoting joint research projects, strengthening faculty exchanges and student mobility, and advancing pragmatic cooperation especially in the fields of nursing, finance, engineering, and design.

Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Medicine, Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, School of Design, SJTU Global College, and Hainan International Medical Center attended the meeting.
